to everything there is a season….
…and a time to every purpose under heaven.
I am thankful to be given this season.
I am grateful to be given this time.
a time to weep
a time to laugh
a time to mourn
a time to dance
when autumn comes I want to be laughing
and dancing…
a time to cast away stones…
and a time to gather stones together
I’m gonna keep track of the Summer
yesterday I sorta started a journey…
(and rather surprisingly to me)
yesterday I sorta started a journal
any etymologist out there?
who can connect journal and journey?
a time to rend
a time to sew
a time to keep silence
a time to speak
I am not much of a journal-ist and certainly have never been known to keep a diary. I’ve had a few…but it was the locked book concept that drew me…not the idea of jotting down my thoughts.
There are pages I wrote when I lost my brother and pages I wrote when I lost my best friend. Those pages served to articulate into order and logic the overwhelming crashing of emotion and circumstance which threatened to implode in my brain. Articulation soothed my pain.
a time to kill
a time to heal
a time to break down
a time to build up
I can’t promise healing.
I won’t promise damage repair.
I can promise to not break down.
I faithfully promise to build up
in a book I will articulate summers journey
to everything there is a season….
…and a time to every purpose under heaven.

Journal and journey, eh? Never made that connection before. I suppose there is one though.
I love the concept of taking a journal journey. I wonder where you'll wind up traveling to? No matter tho, it's going to be a good place. Gettting it all out is good for the soul. Enjoy it!
Peace
Where is ILTV---she's good at this!
(the etymology stuff--and the journaling thoughts stuff...oh, heck, she's just good period!)
Happy journeying, Katherine.
Oddly enough, after looking in the dictionary trying to connect dots in my own brain (cuz I'm like that) I 'get' the connection is a spiritual one.......but that's probably just me cuz I'm like that, too.
Katherine, I wanted to comment on what you said about the OJ Simpson case (you met him twice & saw the whole trial) & what I think happened.
what may have happened & why ? I don't think it was because of the theory if he couldn't have her anymore, nobody else could. I don't think so, because 2 years earlier OJ Simpson caught Nicole having sex with a man on the couch but he didn't lose it. I also don't think Ron Lyle Goldman was there just to drop off the glasses. Ron Lyle Goldman was either a drug dealer or courier & it's a fact that Ron Lyle Goldman's friends were drug dealers. The restaurant Ron Goldman worked @ was financed by drug money & he may have supplied or even sold drugs to Nicole Brown Simpson. OJ Simpson had reportedly complained about Nicole consorting with drug dealers, because it was endangering the lives of his 2 kids who were living with her.
What may have happened that night, is that Ron Lyle Goldman was there to take Nicole Brown Simpson to a drug party, when OJ Simpson saw this & told Ron to the drugs, from this point the quarrel escalated where he lost it.
If he did it under these circumstances, then it's 2d degree Murder as a result of provocation by the victims. It doesn't excuse it, but it puts comprehension. Yes, it's speculation & OJ Simpson may be innocent, though there is alot of circumstantial proof such as the DNA. But what will be said is that Ron Lyle Goldman was not the Golden Boy, as he has been depicted. Ron Goldman was fired after he was caught allegedly selling drugs while he was a tennis coach. Ron Lyle Goldman had had financial problems & filed for bankruptcy, so it would explain why he would get involved with drug sellers.
If he did it, then it most likely was because of provocation by the 2 victims & the provocation was him not wanting drug sellers&couriers around his kids. No, it doesn't excuse it, but it puts comprehension into why it happened.
I much prefer the word journal to diary. Something about it that suggests more openess and more about the actual experience than the dreamed one. Enjoy your travel through life.
I'm sure it will be a wonderful journey. You write so very well too. Have a great day and weekend. Big hug. :)
Sounds like a great plan. You, by the ocean, writing in a journal....sounds lovely.
Good luck with it.
Have at it Kat. Write those thoughts and feelings down...While you're doing tha,t I will gaze with perplexion upon anonymous' comment. Cheers!!
Too often we get lost in the busy-ness of life and forget to savor the details. Enjoy your journey, and your journaling thereof.
Compelling post, Katherine.
How lovely, thanks for sharing. I come by way of David's blog. Great way with words, my friend, great way.
Wonderful post. Brooding and thoughtful. Journey and journal are both from the old French - "jurnal" for journal and "jornee" (meaning day) for journey. Both of these terms in turn come from the Latin "diurnalis", "diurnum" and "diunurnus" meaning "daily" ("diurnum" = "daily portion".)
That's according to my dictionary anyway. I love how you weave the concepts from Ecclesiastes into this. Great writing.
Over from David's.
