actually I took the picture of the plane (its a StarDuster) from the ground. I took the one at the top of the page (of the Santa Cruz wharf) from the same plane.
Its open cockpit. The pilot sits in the back. It has a joystick for steering. It is a loud, windy, spectacular way to fly!!
Wow, that must have been a lot of fun being up there. I am so scared of heights. That would be the day I would sit on a open sitter like that. But I must admit , the view from the top is wonderful!
No - I'm not actually a pilot. However I am a very well trained passenger.
When I had three kids flying with us...I took enough lessons so I could hopefully, prayerfully, land a small plane if something happened to the pilot. My lessons were in a Cessna.
I've spend a great deal of time in a Piper Commanche (six seater - low wing)
I've flown a couple times for business in private jets...king air..its great. But Chris is right there is nothing like an open cockpit ride.
One note: I am very VERY selective with who I fly with. VERY.

Can I have one of those, please?

Wonder how they took the shot. From another plane maybe?

Looks like FUN! Did you get to go for a ride?
kai - actually several rides...the plane belongs to Lauren and Cameron's dad.
Great picture, Katherine. I'd not turn down a ride in one of those, haha

Awesome! :)
Looks like fun, but I think I'd be too scared.
Sounds like fun! I'm all for a private jet myself....LOL

Excellent! I've been up in a 2 seater Cessna, but never an open cockpit plane.
Must be great :-)
Are you a pilot?
My mom and stepdad used to own a Cessna.

Fab pic, being a passanger has to be just as good as being a pilot as it's just view gazing without any technical stuff x x
Great, scenic picture.
I am not a fan of small planes - or any plane for that matter.
But this is a nice looking bird.
